Ancestry is now a popular hobby for many people particularly on those rainy days.. New tools and databases recently published onto the internet can allow you to search hundreds of online databases - like Births, Marriages, Deaths, Wills, Adoptions, Immigration, Army usually going back hundreds of years.

• The National Archives of Scotland - Adoptions, soldiers and lots more

• Ancestry - Includes UK Census information including the Scottish 1841 census onwards, Parish and Probate records, Immigrant, wills and much more (pay per view or subscription)

• Tips in getting started with Genealogy and Family History

• Lists of Genealogy sites on the internet

• KinHelp - Scottish Genealogy Services - They also offer Professional Assistance
