Coll James Turner MacFarlan of Stronafyne

 

The inscription reads" In Memory of Coll James Turner MacFarlan who died at Stronafyne on 26 July 1949   Aged 86 years "

 

Coll was born 4 August 1862 in Row (Rhu) parish, son of John MacFarlane 8th of Tullichintaull (1809-1900) & Barbara Turner (1827-1913).

 

The Tullichintaull Macfarlanes were/are descended from Dougal MacFarlane a younger son of Walter MacFarlane 9th Baron of Arrochar and 6th Chief of Clan Macfarlane (k battle of Sauchieburn, June 1488), by his wife Gertrude Livingston, dau. of James Livingstone 2nd Lord Livingstone of Callendar.

 

Coll had 5 siblings two sisters and three brothers:
