This connection to Scotland and to Arrochar begins with Elizabeth Stalker (born in Ullapool in 1918) whose father, Douglas Stalker was born at the Arrochar hotel along with several of his siblings. Their father, Peter "P.S." Stalker, was born at Auchterarder. He and his wife Agnes Harris Stalker lived at Ardgarten. He farmed at Auchadunan at the head of Loch Fyne and owned and ran the Arrochar hotel at the time. He sold the farm and all of his holdings in 1908 after his wife died. Maternal connections are revealed that include the Harris's and Johnston's of Kinross. The Harris's owned and ran the Green Hotel in Kinross in the late 1800 and early 1900's. Other maternal connections and forebears include: The Hume's of Sale near Manchester; their home was called Marchmont, and the Gilmour's of Irvine and the Johnstone's.
